BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 1. The volume of crude oil and petroleum products transported to 31 provinces in Iran increased by 3.7 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024) compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), the executive director of the Iranian Oil Pipeline and Telecommunication Company (IOPTC), Arsalan Rahimi said, Trend reports.
According to him, 137 billion liters of crude oil and petroleum
products were carried from Iran to Iran's provinces last year.
However, last year, the provinces received $132 billion in crude
oil and petroleum products.
According to Rahimi, 3.85 billion liters of fuel were carried to 19
thermal power plants across the country last year.
The official added that 2.5 billion liters of diesel would be
required to deliver such a large amount of crude oil overland on
oil tankers.
However, moving crude oil and petroleum products through pipelines
has saved approximately $1 billion.
“During the current Iranian year, a total of 1,000 kilometers of pipelines for transportation of crude oil and petroleum products will be built in the country. Thus, the length of pipelines for transportation of oil and oil products in the country will increase to a total of 15,000 kilometers,” he said.
To note, Iran's Oil Pipelines and Telecommunication Company transports crude oil and petroleum products to the country's refineries and consumption points through more than 14,000 kilometers of pipelines in the country.
