Thee total potential of alternative and renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan exceeds 12,000 megawatts, the deputy head of the investment and strategic development department of the State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources Samir Rahimov said at the 13th ERRA Energy Investment and Regulation Conference in Baku Oct. 28.
He said that most of the country's potential in this area accounted for solar energy and this potential is estimated at 5,000 megawatts.
"Around 4,500 megawatt accounted for wind energy, biomass - 1,500 megawatts, geothermal energy - 800 MW, while the remaining 350 megawatts - the potential for small hydro power plants (HPP)," Rahimov said.
