Azerbaijani gas to Turkey supplied via the South Caucasus gas pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum), have been totally resumed, BP which is the operator of the pipeline, told Trend on Monday.

"Gas supplied via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline was fully restored," a BP spokesperson said. "It is now working normally."

Earlier, gas supplies from Azerbaijan to Turkey were suspended due to an explosion on the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline on May 29 in the Kars city. The cause of the explosion is still unknown. However, as Botas said, technical work was carried out on this section of the gas pipeline which could have led to the subsequent explosion.

Turkey has a contract to supply 6.6 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas per year from the 'Shah Deniz' field via the South Caucasus gas pipeline. Prior to suspension of oil pumping via the pipeline, about 12 million cubic meters of gas was supplied per day on average.
