The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan plans to commission a new production platform on offshore "Chilov" field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea in the near future, the company reported.
The report notes that the platform will be designed to drill 10 wells for oil production.
The field is developed by the 28 May Offshore Oil and Gas Production Unity (OGPU).
The "Chilov" field in the same name island located in the south-west water area of Absheron archipelago, and partly - in the coastal zone. The "Chilov" field was began to developed in 1948. Industrial development of the field started in 1952.
At present, SOCAR carries out active work to stabilize and increase the production at the fields developed independently.
