Iran will not abandon its nuclear program despite the increased sanctions, Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said at the Friday's prayer, IRINN TV channel reported.
Khamenei delivered a speech in front of the prayers in connection with the Fajr celebrations.
Commenting on the ongoing sanctions and threats from the Western countries, Khamenei stressed that "U.S., who threatens Iran with war, will eventually harm itself".
"If a war comes after all the threats, the U.S. will suffer ten times more," Khamenei said.
"The U.S. is weak, both politically and economically," Khamenei said. "Their political failures in Middle East, Palestine and Iraq prove it".
"The West threats Iran, while we have some threats of our own, and if necessary, we will reveal them, when the time is right," Khamenei said. "The U.S. will be overthrown, just like Soviet Union in due time".
Khamenei also stressed that the imposed sanctions are of benefits to Iran, saying that "the sanctions bring the West down before the eyes of the world community".
"If there were no sanctions on arms import, Iran's army would not have been strong. If there were no issues on the country's nuclear program, we would not be enriching uranium," he said.
"They can boycott us all they want. Sanctions help us reveal our inner potential, and we will progress," Khamenei said. "We will push our talents forward, and help them grow".
