Before going to Tehran while leaving Tajikistan, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi told journalists that the trade turnover between Iran and Tajikistan is about $200 million a year, this figure is unsatisfactory and should increase on the basis of the mutual capacities, IRNA reported.
Salehi added that during his meeting with Tajik President Emamali Rahman they emphasized a necessity of expanding the bilateral ties.
"I appreciate the prospective of Iran-Tajikistan relations," Salehi said.
Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, who is currently on an official visit to Tajikistan discussed the investiment opportunities with his Tajik counterpart Hamrokhon Zarifi, Asia Plus reported.
According to the information department of the Tajik foreign ministry, Iran's involvement in large-scale projects such as the Sangtuda-2 hydroelectric power plant (HPP), the Istiqlol Tunnel as well as the construction project of a new railway link connecting Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and China were discussed at Zarifi's meeting with Ali Akbar Salehi.
The sides reportedly underlined the significance of expanding the bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation between their countries in such sectors as energy and transportation.
