Iran has become the second country in the world after the U.S. to make a vortex rocket engine, ISNA reported.

Danesh Bonyan's CEO Saeed Reza Deghani said that this technology has already been around for 11 years, while Iran has managed to reach the U.S. in this regard three years ago.

The vortex rocket engines happen to have many advantages, offering the possibility of: removing complex fuel atomizing machinery in the propellant injectors, eliminating the need for leak-prone cooling passages, extending operational lifetimes of combustion chambers, making combustion-chamber walls using relatively inexpensive and easier to shape materials.

Saeed Reza Deghani noted that in case with the vortex rocket engine, which is extremely fuel-efficient, it consumes about 98 percent of the engine.

He said that Iran first obtained this technology from the U.S. in 2003, and built its own laboratories in Iran.

Speaking of the differences between this technology in the U.S. and Iran, Deghani noted that Iran made their vortex engines liquid-fueled, with low pressure, while making engines with high pressure would require more financial aid and a construction of a more advanced laboratory.
