Major government agencies, private companies and enterprises will fully switch to optical communication cables, Baku Telephone Communications Deputy Director General
Khankishi Kishiyev told Trend on Wednesday.
Mr Kishiyev said in accordance with the strategy on making the transfer to optical lines residences and apartments are currently making the transition.
"Building optical infrastructure requires large investment. From the other hand, the user itself should be ready for such kind of innovations. The matter is big traffic volumes (up to 100 Mbit/s), purchase of ultimate equipment (modems), which unlike ADSL-modems are many times expensive (100-200 manat)," he said.
At present bringing optic cables to residencies is under implementation due to NGN technology and additionally set ONU (Optical Network Unit) equipment.
