Azerbaijan's experience in the organization of financial services as part of its postal service will be presented at an international forum in Switzerland, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies told Trend on March 4.
The Azerbaijani delegation will participate at the session of the Postal Operations Council (POC) of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) which will be held from March 31 to April 11in Bern according to the ministry.
"The session will be preceded by two international forums, the first on the topic of e-commerce, the second on the organization of postal payment services. The experience of "Azerpoct " LLC in the organizing of postal financial services will be presented in one of these forums. Financial services, which are provided by the national postal operator, are some of the most efficient used in the world, and have received positive international assessment," the ministry said.
Postal Operations Council is a body of the UPU involved in technical problems and operational matters. Some 40 member countries, including Azerbaijanis are represented in its structure. The POC is assigned to solve operational, commercial, technical and economic issues relating to the postal service.
Azerpoct LLC has an extensive network of postal services - more than 1,600 nationwide offices.
The postal operator also provides financial services along with the traditional postal services. The LLC started providing financial services in April 2012 in accordance with the license of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
Banking services to postal operators are implemented with the help of an automated corporate information system, to which about 900 branches and offices of postal services located throughout the republic are connected.
The operator is allowed to provide services for opening and managing accounts, money transfers, issuance of debit card transactions, operation on buying and selling of currencies on the client's order, encashment and other valuable assets.
The provision of two additional services, the attraction of deposits and issuance of credit cards will be considered in the future.
