The SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) intends to improve service in the network of its gas filling stations in Georgia and apply new technologies there, director general of SOCAR Energy Georgia Mahir Mammadov told Trend.
He said that almost all the territory of Georgia is covered by a network of SOCAR gas filling stations.
"We have completed extensive construction of gas filling stations in Georgia," said Mammadov.
"Now we plan to improve the service, to carry out enhanced marketing work, introduce new technologies. At the same time, a lot of infrastructure projects are being carried out Georgia, new roads are being built. Tenders for construction of gas filling stations along these new roads are held, and we will participate in this construction. Accordingly, we will create large infrastructure systems. At the same time, we have no large investment plans to further expand the network of gas filling stations."
SOCAR plans to increase its number of gas stations in Georgia up to 117 by the end of 2015.
SOCAR, the only producer of petroleum products in Azerbaijan, has two oil refineries, as well as gas filling stations in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Romania and Switzerland.
SOCAR exported 1.2 million tons of petroleum products from Azerbaijan in 2014, compared to nearly 1.05 million tons in 2013.
