BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 26. Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) strategic partnership with Azerbaijan for 2019 - 2023 is aimed at boosting private sector development, increasing the performance of the public sector, improving infrastructure, and strengthening human capital, Trend reports via ADB’s Member Fact Sheet.
According to the document, this strategy is in line with Azerbaijan’s strategic road maps for the national economy and main economic sectors.
“ADB’s medium-term program in Azerbaijan focuses on the education, agriculture, public sector management, transport, and energy sectors,” the ADB said.
As of today, ADB’s support in the amount of 65 public sector loans, grants, and technical assistance totaled $3.7 billion, the report said.
“Cumulative loan disbursements to Azerbaijan amount to $3.93 billion. These were financed by regular and concessional ordinary capital resources. ADB’s ongoing sovereign portfolio in Azerbaijan includes 2 loans and 1 sovereign guarantee worth $856.8 million,” the bank said.
Azerbaijan actively supported the program’s agenda and hosted the virtual 20th Ministerial Conference, being a chair of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Program in 2021, ADB noted.
