BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 20. Currently, construction of 13 power plants with a total capacity of 119 MW is ongoing in Azerbaijan, Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov said, Trend reports.
According to the minister, in a short period of time, more than 1,157 kilometers of power transmission lines of various voltage levels have been built in Azerbaijan, 20 substations have been restored and put into operation, and 13 power stations with a total capacity of 75 MW have been constructed.
He emphasized that "Khudafarin" and "Giz Galasi" hydroelectric systems have been constructed on the Araz River, and work is ongoing to build and put into operation hydroelectric power stations with a capacity of 140 MW.
Shahbazov noted that over the past 20 years, due to the construction of 71 power stations with a total capacity of 4,000 MW, the installed capacity of Azerbaijan's energy system has increased to 8,002 MW.
