Iranian Citizen Detained in Azerbaijan for Mercury Sale

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. E.Huseynli / An Iranian citizen detained in Azerbaijan for selling mercury.

As a result of a joint operation held by officials of the Central Department against Criminality and State Customs Committee, the resident of the Fizuli region Arif Aliyev and Iranian citizen Mahsub Vadud were detained on 3 December for attempting to sell 515kg of red mercury.

The Azerbaijani Internal Ministry's press-service reported to Trend agency that the detained persons were planning to sell the mercury for $550,000.

An investigation has been launched into the case.
