Azerbaijan, Baku, 3 April / corr Trend A.Gasimova / Georgia and Ukraine will enter NATO in the near future, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, the NATO Secretary General stated in Bucharest on 3 April. "We welcome the democratic reforms and democratic elections in Georgia and Ukraine. Membership at NATO will be the next stage for these countries," he said.
On 3 April, the issue to submit to Ukraine and Georgia an Action Plan on NTAO membership was discussed at the NATO Summit in Bucharest.
Scheffer said that NATO support statement by these countries regarding their entrance to NATO. It is the beginning of intensive discussions and dialogue on the political level in connection with the membership of these two countries and dialogue is the sole way for the membership, he stated.
