Iranїs President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad swore to keep on backing Palestinian HAMAS until Israelїs break-up, Ha- Aretz newspaper reported on 12 September.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said to HAMAS leader Ismail Haniyeh that Iran believes its support to Palestinian people is a part of its religious and national duty.

ї Iran will support the Palestinian nation until complete victory ї break-up of the Zionist regime,ї Iranian President said.

Ahmadinejad said to Haniyeh in a telephone conversation that HAMASїs long-term resistance to Israel and the achievements of the organization would ever be їa source of pride for all Muslimsї.

ї Iran does not recognize Israelїs right to exist and will support HAMAS until the world gets rid of Zionists ( Israel),ї said Ahmadinejad .

Ismail Haniyeh , the leader if the Islamic HAMAS movement operating in the Gaza Strip, was elected Palestineїs Prime Minister in 2006, but was dismissed by countryїs President Mahmoud Abbas in June 2007 after HAMASїs takeover. HAMAS is still controlling the Gaza Strip.
