The Russian and Uzbek presidents proposed holding an international conference on Afghanstan at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
"We have reached an understanding that these issues should be resolved through joint action," Russian President Dimitry Medvedev said at a press conference after talks with his Uzbek counterpart Islam Karimov. "We propose holding an international conference on Afghanistan at the SCO."
The presidents discussed Afghanistan at Karimov's Oksaroi residence in Uzbekistan.
"The situation in Afghanistan, especially along the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan, cannot be considered without bearing in mind the relations between the two countries," Medvedev said.
The Uzbek-Russian talks ended with the signing of a number of bilateral documents.
