The Azerbaijani governing party has amended its referendum initiative group's strategy.
"We have made changes in our strategy to better align our campaign with the referendum," New Azeraijan Party (NAP) Deputy Executive Secretary and member of parliament Siyavush Novruzov told Trend .
He said the NAP will launch its referendum initiative group with a large meeting on Feb. 19.
The New Azerbaijan group will hold events as envisaged by national legislation.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) registered the New Azerbaijan, City, Progress, Law and Democracy and Civil Society initiative groups. The Prosperous Village, Free Speech, Azerbaijan People's Republic and National Independence groups were not registered.
The Azerbaijani Constitution was adopted in 1995. Amendments and additions were made in 2002.
The referendum campaign will begin Feb. 18 and end March 16 at midnight.
The NAP usually begins its campaigns with demonstrations. However, Novruzov said the party will not launch this particular campaign with a demonstration. Every issue has its own peculiarities, he said.
Novruzov added that the party will hold demonstrations during the campaign.
The NAP was established by Nakhchivan Parliamentary Speaker Heydar Aliyev in 1992.
President Ilham Aliyev is the party's chairman. The party has rule the country for 15 years.
