Georgian President suggests establishing public council

Georgia, Tbilisi, May 25/ Trend , N.Kirtshalia / Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili proposes to establish a public council. He made this initiative at the ceremony of awarding the winners of the new national award named after Rustaveli.

According to the President, it is necessary to adopt a law which will define the functions and authorities of such council. It will include the representatives from various sectors, which will submit its recommendations and initiatives to the government.

"We should allow these people to make laws, but parliament must quickly respond to and deal with them. Georgian public should take an active part in the construction of the Georgian democracy," said Saakashvili.
