Russia will develop relations with South Ossetia: Russian President

Russia is prepared to develop relations with South Ossetia and to realize joint projects in different spheres, Russian President Dmitriy Medvedyev stated at a meeting with head of the so-called "South Ossetia Republic" Eduard Kokoyti, RIA Novosti reported.

"I would like to thank you for your invitation to visit a new nation, a new country - South Ossetia which was established as a result of difficult, dramatic events and which the Russian people really supported in difficult time... I believe that exactly this first short visit of the Russian President will lay a basis for similar contacts and friendly relations", Medvedyev addressed to Kokoyti.

Now Russia and South Ossetia possess not only a glorious history, but also good legislative base and some agreements, Medvedyev added.

"We have a range of projects to restore the nation's economy and social sphere. We will definitely implement them, because so much should be done. You will show me, for example, what should be done, what is necessary and where all efforts should be concentrated first of all", Medvedyev said.

Medvedyev believes that it is necessary to support military cooperation and relevant agreements. "We will be able to discuss bilateral relations and ways to develop them in talks which I am planning to have during my short visit to South Ossetia. I think it should be done. Thanks again for your invitation," Medvedyev said.
