Iran did not presented warranty to London in connection immunity of Britain embassy worker, Hosein Rassam, spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Hassan Gashgavi, said.
The European Union condemned Iran for bringing a suit on Rassam, who is accused of causing disorders and irregularities in Iran. However, this condemnation do not have any legal right, Gashgavi said in a news conference, Mehr news agency said on Aug.10.
On Aug.8 the Court accused Hossein Rassam, 44, an employee of the Britain embassy in Tehran, of protests against the country's disputed elections, cooperation with foreign forces and espionage. The Court also accused Clotilde Reissi, 24, a French citizen, of participating in demonstrations after the presidential elections.
Iranian Justice Ministry is independent and foreign Ministry never granted warranty to London immunity of the Britain embassy employee who is in custody, Gasgavi added.
On Aug.8 Rassam admitted accusations the court laid on him. However, some observers consider that there were pressures and tortures towards Rassam. The British Foreign Ministry considered the trial on Rassam as an insult and demanded Iran to release him.
The EU made a statement on Aug.9, saying that arrest of Rassami is an action not only against the UK, but against the EU.
