The Chairperson of the Turkmen Parliament, Akja Nurberdieva, received credentials of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Portuguese Republic to Turkmenistan, Jose Manuel de Carvalho Lamerasa.
The diplomat conveyed a message to the Turkmen President, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on behalf of the President of Portugal Anibal Cavaco Silva: "Great and good friend. In order to develop friendly relations that successfully exist between our countries, we decided to accredit Ambassador Jose Manuel de Carvalho Lamerasa under your Excellency."
Head of the National Parliament congratulated the guest on his appointment and acquainted with the main directions and priorities of Turkmenistan's policy. The meeting noted the importance of establishing closer inter-parliamentary ties.
The Portuguese diplomat also held a series of meetings at the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan and other government agencies of the country. During the exchange of views on the prospects of the Turkmen-Portuguese cooperation, the sides spoke in favor of its comprehensive development.
