New head of Gruzpatent, former Deputy Finance Minister Irakli Gvaladze is likely to conduct a far-sweeping campaign to register national heritage, such as plants, animals and traditional Georgian dishes.

Gvaladze said France has patented up to 300 items of cheese, while Georgia has not even registered suluguni. The country is expected to register Georgian sheep, which are sold en masse, as well as traditional dishes, such as khachapuri.

He discussed the activities with Agriculture Minister Bakura Kvezereli.
