Even if part of the opposition parties refuse to participate in the parliamentary elections, the elections will not be non-alternative, Deputy Executive Secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) Mubariz Gurbanli told Trend.
"Currently, more than 40 parties operate in the country. In such a situation elections can not be alternative. All elections in the country were alternative and the upcoming elections will be held with the participation of a greater number of candidates," he added.
Azerbaijan will hold the parliamentary elections in the fall. The previous elections were held in November 2005. The elections use the majority system in Azerbaijan's 125 constituencies.
"The parliamentary election is held by the majority system and representatives of political parties and independents person participate in it," he said.
He said the party holds serious work on the participation in the parliamentary elections.
"Some parties will participate in the elections, however, due to the inability of their coverage of certain districts, they will participate on an individual basis," he added.
