Japanese Emperor Akihito received Uzbek President Islam Karimov in the official visit to Tokyo, the Uzbek National News Agency reported (UzA).
They noted the consistent development of relations between the countries. The proximity and similarity of views of the heads of the two countries on the issues of mutual cooperation and a number of problems of regional and international significance have an important role.
The sides stressed that this meeting is a good opportunity to exchange views on further expanding cooperation. This visit is another vivid demonstration of the mutual deep respect between Uzbekistan and Japan, and their intentions and desire to develop cooperation based on trust and commitment, UzA reported.
It was reported that a three-day official visit of the Uzbek president at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan began on Tuesday.
