Azerbaijan's participation at the G20 summit is an indicator of its growing prestige in the world, strengthening of its role and contribution to global politics, Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Social and Political Department Chief Ali Hasanov told Trend on Monday.

Azerbaijan is actively involved in global economic, political and international relations, Hasanov said.

"As it was noted at President Ilham Aliyev's recent meeting with the NATO Secretary General, Azerbaijan takes active measures not only to ensure its own security, but also participates in the peacekeeping processes in a number of hot spots worldwide," Hasanov said.

Azerbaijan is also actively involved in energy security, energy provision of Europe and the world, he added.

"Today, most transnational European and global projects are associated with the Azerbaijani oil and gas or the work done by Azerbaijan in the Caspian region," he said.

He noted that Azerbaijan is gradually expanding its role and involvement in the world politics and as a sign of this, is invited to the most important events at the world level.
Azerbaijan is participating at the G20 summit of foreign ministers for the first time. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov is representing the country at this meeting.
