Turkish FM: Israel must assess situation if it wants peace
Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov. 30 / Trend A. Taghiyeva /
If Israel wants to establish peace with Palestine, the country should assess the situation, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu was quoted today by Turkish channel TRT Haber as saying.
Davutoglu said that providing Palestine with the observer status in the UN confirms that Palestine is an independent country.
Davutoglu also said the U.S must urge Israel to fully cease violence in the Gaza Strip to resume the peace settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
The UN General Assembly provided Palestine with the observer status at the UN on Thursday. A resolution was approved by 138 of 193 UN member-states, nine stood against, others abstained.
