The protests held in Turkey, had a very strong influence on the country's image in the world, and their consequences are removed with difficulty, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan said, Turkish Hurriyet newspaper reported on Saturday.

According to Babacan, the restoration of the image of the country will take many months.

Protests had been taking place in Turkey for nearly three weeks since the end of May 2013. According to the authorities they were anti-government.

The Turkish oppositional parties accuse the police of using excessive force against protestors.

In total, around 2.5 million people from 79 Turkish provinces participated in protest actions during three weeks, the Turkish Interior Ministry said earlier.

As a result of the unrest in Turkey nearly 4000 people were injured with varying severity, 4,900 were detained by the police.
