Criticism towards Azerbaijan in the articles of some Western media is very unfair, French parliament member Nathalie Goulet told Trend on November 14.
"First of all, most that criticism is made by the people who do not know the country," Goulet said. "The neighbours of Azerbaijan are not Spain or Switzerland, and people abroad easily forget that Azerbaijan is also in a state of war, a real war."
Goulet called on western journalists to travel to Azerbaijan and realise the amount of work that has been done in the country.
She stressed the development of sports, social healthcare and infrastructure, also mentioning the fact that Azerbaijan provides accommodations for internally displaced persons and refugees.
Goulet also highlighted cultural diplomacy of Azerbaijan's First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva. The french diplomat believes Azerbaijan with its diplomatic network is a real regional power.
She also noted that with President Ilham Aliyev's wise policy, Azerbaijan is a real partner for France and for Europe as well.
