Azerbaijani national Emin Huseynov is currently at the Swiss embassy in Baku, spokesperson of Swiss Federal Department for Foreign Affairs, Ursina Schmitz told Trend on Feb.13.
She said that Emin Huseynov presented himself to the embassy on Aug.18, 2014 and Switzerland subsequently granted him authorization to stay for humanitarian reasons.
"Since then, Switzerland has been negotiating with the Azerbaijani authorities and government to find a solution in the interests of this individual, " Schmitz said.
Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hikmet Hajiyev earlier said that Emin Huseynov is hiding from the investigation at the embassy of Switzerland in Baku.
The investigating authorities of Azerbaijan have repeatedly sent notices to Emin Huseynov since July 7, 2014, but he hid in the Swiss embassy in Azerbaijan, Hajiyev said.
"Currently, the Grave Crimes Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office continues the necessary investigation measures," he added.
The prosecutor general's office launched a criminal case against the Azerbaijani citizen, Emin Huseynov, under the criminal code's articles 192.2.2 (illegal business), 213.2.2 (tax evasion) and 308.2, and arrest was chosen as a measure of restraint against him in accordance with the court decision, dated Aug. 19, 2014.
