The European Parliament's resolution on Azerbaijan is biased, unfair and inappropriate, Ali Ahmadov, Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Chairman, Executive Secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan party, told Azertag state news agency.

Ahmadov was commenting on the European Parliament's resolution on Azerbaijan.

"It seems that this authoritative European organization is afflicted with an anti-Azerbaijani disease," he said. "The members of the European Parliament (MEP), who voted for the adoption of this resolution, are well aware that Azerbaijan is the most successful country in the post-Soviet area, as well as in Europe. Most of them visited Baku at different periods and admired the rapid development, renewal and economic growth of Azerbaijan in a short period of time."

Ahmadov said that Azerbaijani citizens regret that the European Parliament took an anti-Azerbaijani position.

He said that this undermines people's confidence in the European values.

"The European values are already going through difficult period and degrading," he said. "The attitude toward refugees, who are victims of the Middle East policy, pursued by Europe, testifies to this. Europe has its own serious problems that should be discussed in the European Parliament."

He stressed that the policy pursued by the Azerbaijani leadership is based on the interests of Azerbaijan and people.

Ahmadov said that the national interests are more important than the unfair and biased resolution adopted by the organization, in which Azerbaijan is not represented.
