Islamic Party could not hold congress due to elections

As the Islamic party of Azerbaijan was engaged in the parliamentary elections it could not hold its next congress, deputy chairman of the party Rovshan Ahmedli told Trend.

He also said, the next party congress must have been held in August 2005. “Preparations to the parliamentary elections delayed the congress holding. However, under the charter the issue of the congress is still on the agenda”.

Ahmedli has not ruled out, that along with other issues, the date of the congress may be also discussed at the party’s supreme mejlis sitting to be scheduled in late December. В"The discussion of the issue is possibly to be left for the supreme mejlis next sitting. Despite all this, we are to hold our congress.
