Azeri president visits Japan to deepen friendly relationships

Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev paid a visit to Japan on Tuesday. The official visit will last till 10 March. He is scheduled to hold meetings with the Japanese PM Dzunitiro Koiszumi, audience at Emperor Akihito and meet with Foreign Minister Taro Aso.

During the visit to Tokyo we hope to deepen the friendly relationships with Azerbaijan. A package of documents has been drafted for the visit, which includes financial assistance to Azerbaijan. A business-forum will be held within the framework of the visit, the Japanese Foreign Ministry announced.

Japan, one of the major economic donors of Azerbaijan, finances some projects in the energy sector of Azerbaijan. The total Japanese grant to Azerbaijan comprise approximately $700m.

It will come as the first official visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Japan, ITAR TASS reported.
