Azerbaijan intends to resolve the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, however, the rest variants should also be on table, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated to the opening ceremony of the 33rd session of the foreign ministers of the OIC member-countries that opened in Baku on 19 June, Trend reports.

Aliyev stressed that Azerbaijan cannot resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict by itself. At present 20% of the Azerbaijani territory is under occupation of Armenia and there are over 1 million refugees in the country. The houses and infrastructure, cemeteries, mosques and historic monuments are being destroyed in the occupied areas and it represents unseen action of vandalism, the President added.

Aliyev noted that the UN issued 4 resolutions in connection with the Armenian Azerbaijani conflict, which remain unimplemented. At present the UN does not possess efficient mechanism on the execution of its resolutions. Today there are talks on the reformation of UN and I think first of all it is necessary to reform the mechanisms on implementation of resolutions. It is also necessary to take resolutions which will be implemented, he underscored.
