Yanukovich regards the unification of Ukraine as his key task in the post of Prime Minister. He made the relevant statement for Izvestiya newspaper, which was published on 4 August, when the voting for his candidature for the post of Putin Minister is to be held at the Supreme Rada [Ukrainian parliament], Trend reports.

"The most important for me is the unification of the country. We compiled out team of people working for unity of Ukraine. We supported the chairman of the Supreme Rada, Alexander Moroz, because his is a politician, who is capable of uniting the country, Yanukovich stressed.

Yanukovich noted that he was satisfied with the results of work in this period when he was for the first time at the post of Prime Minister. Now we can do too much, because the government of coalitional form can cooperate with the parliament. At the same time, the economic situation in the country is worse than 2004," Yanukovich noted promising to attract investments to the country. The stable economic growth in the country can be achieved only through cooperation of the government with the large coalition, he assured.

Russia will remain a strategic partner of Ukraine, Yanukovich underlined. It is conditioned by historic factors and it cannot be subtracted. If we accept Russia as a partner, we can resolve many key issues, including the gas," ITAR-TASS.
