Baku May Independently Ensure its Demands for Gas from 1 January 2007  Azeri Primer

Azerbaijan will be able to independently ensure its demand for gas from 1 January 2007, the Azerbaijani Prime Minister, Artur Rasizade, briefed the media on 4 December after the bilateral negotiations with the Russian Prime Minister, Mikhail Fradkov, Trend reports with reference to RBK.

Azerbaijan is already at the level of the development that possesses opportunities to ensure its demands for the energy resources, Rasizade stressed commenting on the decision of Gazprom to decrease the gas delivered to Azerbaijan from 4,5 to 1,5 bln cu.m from 2007. Speaking about the gas delivery from Russia, Rasizade said that increasing the prices is based upon various factors..

The community has questioned the rate of increase, Azerbaijani Prime Minister said. He added that Azerbaijan is continuing considering the proposal of Gasprom regarding delivery of 1,5 bln cu.m of gas with the prices of $230 per 1,000 cu.m. We informed Gazprom that we are ready to continue discussions, Rasizade said.
