Ukrainian Prime Minister to Visit Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijani Ambassador to Ukraine, Talat Aliyev, who recently met with the Ukrainian Primer, exclusively informed Trend that the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Victor Yanukovich, plans to visit Azerbaijan.

According to him, the visit may take place till the end of this year or at the beginning of the next year. The exact date will be fixed in the near future, the diplomat said. Ukraine in interested in strengthening the co-operation with Azerbaijan, especially in commercial-economical and energy spheres. The Head of the Ukrainian Government called as most prospective directions of the economic interaction the co-operation in the fuel and energy complexes, particularly realization of the common projects for transporting the Caspian energy carriers to the European markets.

According to the Ambassador, the meeting focused on the realization of the projects signed during the official visit of the Ukrainian President, Victor Yushenka, to Azerbaijan, and the documents and decisions of the 7th meeting of the Azerbaijani-Ukrainian Inter-Governmental Economic Co-operation Commission. In addition, the sides discussed the prospects of the co-operation of the two countries in the spheres of machine-building, aircraft construction, chemical industry.

In addition, Aliyev presented to the attention of the Ukrainian Primer the questions linked with the rights of the Azerbaijanis temporarily residing in Ukraine, delivering their rights to the level of the rights of the Ukrainian citizens and ensuring their social rights. According to the Ambassador, presently there are not serious problems in this sphere in Ukraine, but the Embassy takes necessary steps to protect the rights of the Azerbaijanis. Aliyev also raised the question about the assistance in creating the Culture Center of Azerbaijan.
