The State Committee for Struggle against Drug Addiction and Illegal Drug Trafficking informed Trend that over the first 11 months of 2006, 2,129 drug-related crimes have been registered in Azerbaijan, including 706 related to drug-trafficking.
A total of 509,685kg of drugs, psychotropic substances, and precursors, including 45,412kg of heroine, 120,933kg of opium, 210,449kg of hashish, 125kg of marihuana, as well as 522 tablets of psychotropic substances, 10.8 grams of acetic anhydride, 0.53 gram of methadone, and 7,880kg grams of poppy seeds were withdrawn in this period.
