Azerbaijan, Baku / Т corr S. Ilhamghizi / MP Ali Ahmadov, the Deputy Chairman and the Executive Secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP), stated that the detention of MP Huseyn Abdullayev had not been planned beforehand.

Speaking on different information regarding the incident which occurred in the Azerbaijani parliament of Milli Mejlis between MPs Huseyn Abdullayev and Fazayil Aghamali, Ahmadov said, "The power should be like a united team in order to achieve its goal. The unity within the Government should not be put under suspicion. The punitive measure is a preventive one and is targeted both to restore justice and to prevent such unpleasant situations in the future."

Ahmadov dismissed the supposition that the detention had been planned beforehand. "Who told Mr. Abdullayev to behave like that? Should the MP state in his testament that he had been ordered to behave like that by Parliament, it would be possible to suppose there was a plot. Abdullayev's behavior caused discontent amongst the MPs, and some of them called on him to stop his inappropriate behaviour. But the fact cannot prove the supposition," the MP said.
