All Azerbaijani Schools To Operate One Session

Azerbaijan, Baku, 23 January / corr. Trend J. Babayeva/ General education Azerbaijani schools will not be split in two sessions due to the construction of new schools, Misir Mardanov, the Minister of Education of Azerbaijan said on 23 January.

"We want to change to one-session and a five-day academic week in all schools of Azerbaijan," Mardanov said.

Due to resources in the amount of AZN 2.8 bln (the same figure totaled AZN 1.5 bln in 2007), allocated by the Government for education and construction of new schools in 2008, there will be no need for a two-session education system.

"600 new schools and additional buildings for 700 schools must be built, 1500 school must be repaired," the minister said.
