Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 February /corr. Trend K.Zarbaliyeva / The International Red Cross Committee has officially confirmed that the soldier of the National Army of Azerbaijan, Samir Mammadov, who was in Armenian captivity, was transferred to another country. Samir Mammadov's uncle Vidadi Mammadov reported to Trend on 4 February that they met with the Head of the ICRC representative in Azerbaijan's district of Barda, Khuan Carlson. During the meeting, they were notified that Samir Mammadov was transferred to another country.
Samir Mammadov was taken prisoner on 24 December 2006 and on 31 January 2008 was transferred to another country. The last time the ICRC representatives met with Mammadov was on 29 January. The Armenia media reported that Samir Mammadov was transferred to another country.
However, the ICRC did not state which country Mammadov was transferred to. According to them, Mammadov is a free man and may contact his family in his own time.
Vidadi Mammadov said that this step of the Armenian side should be assessed as human kidnapping and is the result of weak activity of the ICRC.
Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry stated that they are aware of the transfer of Mammadov to another country and investigations are being held in this regard.
