( dpa )- One of Berlin's greatest museums, the Bode, has closed key areas after discovering an insect infestation in its new flooring.
Officials of the Bode, on the Island of Museums in the centre of the city, said late Saturday it was feared the infestation would spread to priceless artefacts.
The museum, which displays Byzantine and Renaissance interiors and sculptures, was reopened 15 years ago after years of repairs.
Two-thirds of the upper storey of the three-level museum will be closed till April. The parquet flooring is being warmed up by microwaves to kill the insects and the exhibits have been wrapped up in anti-insect "nitrogen tents."
