On Sep.1, former editor-in-chief of Khalq qazeti, author of articles in New Musavat newspaper, Mahal Ismayiloglu, told Trend that he has lodged cassation appeal with the preparatory meeting of the Baku Court of Appeal.

In his appeal Ismayiloglu demands from the Supreme Court to annul the decision of the preparatory meeting of the Baku Court of Appeal, to which he appealed on the decision of the Absheron District Court, and hold the process with full juridical investigation. For this reason, the consideration of the appeal was postponed to an indefinite time.

Criminal case towards Ismayiloglu was filed on the basis of housemaid's complaint working in his neighbors' house. Ex-editor-in-chief is accused of article 128 of the Criminal Code (less intentional health hazard).

Suffered, Nasiba Nurush, said that journalist exerted physical pressure and insulted her. Ismayiloglu considered the criminal case was ordered saying that they want to punish him for articles in which he criticizes power.
