The Crimean Azerbaijani Community has repeatedly asked the autonomous region's parliament to declare Feb. 26 Khojali Genocide Remembrance Day, the Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with the Diaspora reported with reference to Community Chairman Rahim Humbatov.
The letter addressed to the autonomous region's Parliametary Speaker Vlodimir Konstantinov stated that the government's failure to react has caused regret and disappointment.
"We think that this is a discrimination toward representatives of different nationalities, which is unacceptable under Ukrainian legislation," the ketter read.
