A book by the veteran Azerbaijani poet Isa Javadoghlu, "Ya Gismet" ("As Fate Willed"), was launched on Thursday, also the 80th birthday of the poet. The event was organized by MP Ganira Pashayeva and the Eurasian Institute of International Studies.
Pashayeva spoke at the launch about the life and creative work of the poet, saying that Javadoghlu is a good teacher and a wonderful poet.
"His creative work is well-known. People like it in all regions of Azerbaijan. There is a sense of civic attitude and pride in our independence in his poetry. At the same time one feels in his creative work that he is a teacher. There is instruction in his poems," she added.
"Not everyone who knows his or her profession is an intellectual. But Poet Isa is an intellectual in the truest sense of the word. People have always respected his thoughts in society," she said, wishing Javadoghlu a long life.
Well-known Azebaijani writers and poets attended the book launch at which the poet's poems were performed by well-known folk singers.
The poet's friends who have worked with him for a long time shared their memories at the event.
Professor Ghazanfar Pashayev PhD said Javadoghlu's work represents a variety of genres and patriotism has a special place in his work.
Other participants said that the life and work of the poet have a special place in the history of Azerbaijani literature.
Javadoghlu's poems first appeared in 1960s with the theme of the Motherland having a special place in them. The motif of edification has recently featured in the poet's work on the basis of his profession and life experience. The poet is a teacher of language and literature in his native region.
"Ya Gismet" is the poet's tenth book.
Pashayev and poets Bagman Babudur and Zalimkhan Yaqub edited the book. A preface, called "The Entire World of Poet Isa," was written by Pashayeva.
