The Georgian parliament adopted amendments to national legislation this week that oblige passengers to wear seatbelts on city and village roads.
Earlier, only drivers and frontseat passengers were obliged to wear seatbelts. People violating the law will be fined 40 lari.
In the countryside, drivers will receive a warning for their first infringement. Later, they will receive an administrative fine.
The law comes into force today.
