Water level in the Kur River began to decline today.

Though the rise in the water level was observed in the Kur River in the first four days of May, today the water level decreased by 14 centimeters in the Giragkesemen section, 5 centimeters in the Yevlakh section, 14 centimeters in the Zardab section and 4 centimeters in the Surra section, the chief hydrologist of the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry's National Hydrometeorology Department Asif Verdiyev told Trend. Today, a five-centimeter decrease was recorded in the water level in the Araz River.

The current level in the Kur River in Yevlakh has fallen by 61 cm, in Zardab by 125 cm, in Surra by 171 cm, in Shirvan by 179 cm and in Banka by 120 cm, compared to the corresponding period last year, Verdiyev said. In the Novruzlu section of the Araz River the water level has fallen by 217 centimeters, compared to the corresponding period last year.

Verdiyev said that in the coming days, a rise in the water level of the Kur and Araz rivers is not expected. But with rains predicted in the country by May 10, water levels are expected to increase after May 7 in mountain rivers in the upper part of the Kur River, its streams and in the Araz River.
