Month of environment to be conducted in Azerbaijan

As part of the International Dialogue for Environment Action (IDEA), initiated by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Vice-President and Head of the Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia Leyla Aliyeva, November 2011 has been declared the month of environment which will be conducted under the slogan "Let us protect environment" in order to increase public awareness of environmental issues, which are of concern for humanity today, have turned into a serious source of threat for the future generations and are awaiting for urgent solutions, IDEA press service told Trend on Friday.
Along with improving the welfare of the people, the world, which is globalizing on the backdrop of the dynamic development of economic relations, faces with the universal environmental problems resulting from human activities, the information said.
Regardless of the geographical space, the global character of the problem necessitates a conscious attitude of each individual towards this problem and making changes to daily activities.
There are plans to conduct enlightenment activities in different regions of Azerbaijan for this purpose. Also there are plans to conduct "green week" at universities together with the Azerbaijan Student Youth Organizations' Union.
Discussions on environment will be conducted at secondary schools. A charity football match will be held as part of the project.
The international team of alpinists, consisting of young people, will climb to one of the mountains of Azerbaijan to conduct clean-up work there. As part of the initiative, an international camp of young environmentalists will be conducted in Gabala on Nov. 24-27 in cooperation with the UN and Council of Europe.
