Activity of taxi without license in Azerbaijan to be eliminated

Taxis running on the streets of Baku without a license will be eliminated before May 1, the spokesman of the Ministry of Transport of Azerbaijan Namig Hasanov told Trend on Saturday.
Hasanov said, cars manufactured in Russia which work as a taxi, will be eliminated. Foreign cars, meeting all technical requirements, with special distinctive marks and equipped with a taximeter will receive license.
"No more than five thousand cars will receive a license to work as a taxi in Baku. It is necessary for the improvement of services quality" Hasanov said.
One thousand cars from the total number of licensed taxis in Baku will account for London Taxi TX4 and 4 thousand for other cars.
It is planned to increase the number of London Taxi TX4 to 3 thousand in Baku in the near future.
