Upcoming Forum of Diaspora Organizations of Turkic-Speaking States discussed in Baku

The meeting of the chairman of Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with Diaspora Nazim Ibrahimov and the Secretary General of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States Halil Akinci took place on Thursday.

The meeting focused on cooperation of the heads of Diaspora organizations and issues related to the first Forum of Heads of Diaspora Organizations of the Cooperation Council Member Countries, the press service of the State Committee told Trend on Thursday.

Ibrahimov noted the need for cooperation of Diaspora organizations of Turkic states and stressed that the forum is a very important step in this direction. According to the chairman, the heads of Diaspora organizations will identify further activities and discuss ways to implement them in the framework of the forum.

Akinci, in turn, expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijan for hosting such an important event at high-level. He noted that the joint activities of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, a common position on a number of issues in the future may prove to be very effective.

The meeting also discussed the topics and draft documents to be discussed and adopted at the forum, speeches and regulation issues.

It should be noted that Baku will host the first Forum of Heads of Diaspora Organizations of Member Countries of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States on 21 June. Nearly 500 representatives from 44 countries have been invited to the forum. Most of the invited are the heads or representatives of Azerbaijani, Turkish, Kazakh and Kyrgyz Diaspora organizations. The event will also be attended by representatives of state and government, MPs and scientists from Turkey, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
