The eighth session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage will be held in Baku on December 2-7, the committee said today.
The session will be chaired by Azerbaijani Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev.
The member states reports on the implementation of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage will be heard. The applications for including monuments requiring protection on the list of intangible cultural heritage will be considered.
It should be stressed that this year Azerbaijan has sent an appeal to UNESCO about support to include the 'chovgan' national game on the list.
The events are timed to mark the 10th anniversary of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage planned to be held within the session.
